Literature Unplugged: Literature, Art, Music and Popular Culture Classes for children age 8 – 12 years starting July, Juhu

Introducing your child to Literature, Art, Music and Popular culture is as important as sending them to school. These classes have been specifically designed to inculcate in your children a love for all things cultural and artistic. The classes are a combination of popular culture and high culture. Each class will focus on a different aspect of Art and Culture. In one class we will explore the magical world of ‘Alice In wonderland” and in another read from the enchanted works of Pablo Neruda.

To explain further, if we dive into an important book like a “Tale of two Cities” we will end that class with a creative writing session wherein I will help explore your child’s imagination and writing skills. The day we dwell into the mystical world of theatre, all the children will come together and write a play, which I will help them enact.

We will work together to understand poetry better and even learn to write a few lines. Another significant aspect of the class is to understand and appreciate the importance of Art. I will travel through time and teach them about the different art movements and important artists while making sure they remain engaged and interested.

They will also be introduced to the exciting world of popular culture Once every two months we will visit a place of cultural significance. Maybe watch a play at Prithvi theatre or go visit the Prince of Whales Museum or Jahangir Art gallery. This is all a part of their growth process and will enhance their cultural knowledge.

Storytelling Workshop for kids, May 31st in Khar (West)

Join Small Tales for a story workshop for children 8 to 14 years of age. Kids will explore what story actually is and leave knowing what it takes to create their own. More than just a storybook session, the three-hour event (including lunch) is full of games, exercises, and interactive discussion about how to find the storyteller inside you– no matter how old you are!

“People have been asking us for years to create a children’s version of what we do with adults. We’re thrilled that it’s ready. Human beings, no matter what age, are natural storytellers. Our work with Small Tales is to capture that spirit, nurture it, an unleash the storyteller in all of us.”  – Michael Burns
